Envelopes

Several of my friends are taking a Financial Peace University class here in town, it's a Dave Ramsey thing. Anyway, I've been taken in by the hype and Jeremy and I are going to do a budget and use the envelope system starting in April. How nerdy am I, I'm actually excited about it. I will keep my faithful blog readers, the 4 or so of you, up to date on how that's going. Taking the obscene amount of money out of the bank tonight will be a mental challenge, I'm sure!

I started some Amish Friendship Bread 10 days prior to Monday....so Monday I made some loaves using chocolate pudding. I froze one for later, gave another loaf to a friend and we ate half a loaf that night. I managed to give away 2 cups of the starter to friends, so I have a bit left to make another batch of bread with. I found a recipe for rolls, so I plan on trying that as well.

You know it's spring in Wyoming when you use the heater in the car on the way to work and the air conditioner on the way home from work. Yesterday made it into the 70's. Too bad it was too windy to really enjoy the warm weather.

I wore my Tiny Cable Socks yesterday....and they felt like normal socks, they fit well and I enjoyed thinking that "I made these socks on my toesies!" I almost have the footprint for one foot done for my M-I-L socks (I need to come up with a better name than that!) I had better figure out what pattern I'm doing for the leg here pretty soon. I'm thinking either something called Bubble Wrap or doing a random yarn over to give it small holes here and there. Comments, especially from my mother in law, would be welcome.

Tiny Cables Socks

And here *finally* are the socks I started on February 8th. They have tiny cables on them, which are rather hard to see in the photos. I used a size 0 knitting needle and the 2 at a time knitting. I usually like my socks a bit taller on the leg, but, frankly, I got tired of knitting the darn things and decided this was good enough, lol!

I am now trying "sockitecture" by Cat Bordhi. It sounds like my type of style, you don't have to worry about gauge or short rows. I'm making them in a self striping browns for my wonderful mother-in-law. No pattern on the foot, but I plan on doing something for the leg portion. I'm using a size 1 needle, so I don't have as many stitches and they are going much faster already.

Days Off

Our daycare gal has been having some medical issues and was off on Wednesday and Thursday. Jeremy was working nights, so I was on kid detail and trying to keep them quiet while he slept. On Wednesday we went to storytime at the library. It was a barnyard theme that day. Grace claimed she was too shy to go sit with the other kids on the floor. So she sat next to me. Anna stood up and watched the rest of the kids. It was shaping up to be a warm day, so we decided to go to the Children's Village in the Botanic Gardens. Grace loved the stepping stones in the water. Anna loved just running around and telling me what things she saw. Yesterday wasn't nearly as warm as Wednesday, but I still needed to get the kids out, so we went to the play place in the mall. And Daddy still got his rest.

Today is back to daycare and there's a nice layer of snow on the ground.

Bling

On Friday, daycare closed early and it was so bee-u-tee-ful outside. We didn't need our coats while doing some shopping. Saturday was just as wonderful....however, Sunday was overcast and heavy feeling with snow.

Grace got her first professional haircut on Saturday. We went to Fantastic Sams and don't plan on going back there. Grace did very well, but the gal tried to spritz water right in her face and wondered why Grace was tucking her chin under to avoid water in her face! It was just a bang trim and some off the ends, and it looks much better.

We did an unusual thing for the Yearout clan on Sunday, we went to (drum roll please) the mall! And yes, Jeremy came with and it was partly his idea. We checked out Sears, and the puppies, and the candy store. Then we got the girl's ears pierced after lunch. They both wailed pretty good when the poke happened, but were happy girls the rest of the day. I think the hard part for Grace will be waiting the 6 weeks until we can put in "real" earrings. Both girls look so cute with their little bits of bling!

Babies, Part Two

I would like to amend a previous post. After getting an email from our mutual friend saying she had surgery, I felt it was time to get on the phone. The gal and I finally got ahold of each other. After giving birth she had some pretty serious complications, some serious surgery and is finally on the road to recovery. I will leave out the nitty gritty as that is her story to tell or not. Anyway, it felt good to reconnect with her and cry with her and laugh with her again. We vowed to get in touch with each other a little more often.

I turned the heel of my sock today and actually got it right! Almost done turning the heel of the second sock, which means I'm on the downward spin!

The Big Catch

As a proud mommy, I HAD to add this picture of Grace's trout. He was 22 inches long and weighed 4 pounds. She didn't want to touch it but looks pretty excited about her catch. We had Uncle Wade smoke it.

Several weeks ago we came home to Ace stuck in the fence, see this post. Last night I noticed an area on his leg which had part of his hide missing and was red and raw looking. Jeremy took him to the vet today and they wrapped it up and gave him some medicine we have to give him for the next 10 days.

I felt I was ready to do the sock heel on my socks, so I worked a short row heel on one of them. I tried it on and was sorely disappointed to find I had jumped the gun. I had to rip the heel out. I have to keep on knitting about another inch before I try the heel again. At least the heel took only about a day, so it didn't hurt too badly ripping it out!

Names

Awhile back, my mother-in-law gave me the letters to the girl's names and pretty paper to decoupage on them. I've had them done for some time and here they are. On Anna's it looks like I missed placing some on the edges, that was done of purpose. I painted the letter a purple color, then tore the paper pieces and glued them on. Right now it's sitting on some furniture in her room; however, I may hang them as Grace's looks cool the way it's hung up.

And here's Grace's on her freshly painted white walls. (Got rid of the hideous green, finally!) Sorry, Grandma, but the bluish/greenish paisley didn't really match anymore, so I found a blue western print that goes more with her quilt. She said she would have preferred flowers on her name, oh well!

Jeremy and Grace are out ice fishing with Grandpa Y and Uncle Wade. I just got a text of Gracie holding a big ol' trout with a big ol' grin on her face. We might have to fry him up for dinner.

Got our tidy sum of a tax return back. Jeremy wants to get himself a 2 man pontoon boat...but I have it earmarked for paying off some credit cards. Got that done today and it feels SO good! Only a few more things to go before we pay off everything but the mortgage, so there you go Dave Ramsey....

I *finally* got my nook to connect to our wireless internet at our home. Come to find out I was using the wrong password string. No more sitting in the parking lot of Sierra Trading Post using their free wi-fi and downloading books!
