Healy Reservoir

Over the weekend, Jeremy, one of his buddies from work, Grace, Grandpa and Uncle Nick went fishing at a reservoir near Buffalo.  They caught the heck out of the perch and Jeremy caught his first ever largemouth bass.
He wanted me to take note of the Pepsi in his hand...said he was too busy to drink beer!  HA!
We froze a boatload of perch (the limit is crazy high) and plan to have a fish fry later this year.

Baby Bridger

While 2/5th's of my family was off fishing (more on that tomorrow) the rest of us went to Douglas to meet my new nephew.  I guess his birth was pretty rough and his mommy was back in the hospital due to some complications, but all is well now...or definitely on the mend.
His mom says that some of the faces he makes remind her of his Uncle Jeremy.  Definitely some getting used to having a little boy around...so far there's only a bunch of girls!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday, that would be my 29th birthday, of course!  *snicker, snicker*  I took the day off and managed to spend it running around town.  I had to take Grace to have a hearing evaluation as she failed the screenings at school.  You'll be glad to know she can hear perfectly fine, although listening is another matter entirely.  I also got a "filling".  I'd managed to wear down the enamel on a tooth and they filled it back it, but I didn't have to get numb.  It took a totally of probably 5 minutes.  I also had a patch of skin froze off my forehead.  The doctor said if I left it it could turn into something worse...we know the big "C" word was lurking in the background.

Jeremy and the girls got me some bags; I'm hoping they weren't saying I'm an old "bag".  Anyway, one was a round popup trash can for my car, my other one broke and the replacement sucked, to be blunt, so Jeremy found me the same type on Amazon.  They also got me 2 other knitting bags.
I got the red one for Christmas.  They grey one and purple one are new.  I really love them, they keep my knitting nice and together and tidy.  (There is also a preview of the last baby cardigan.)

Leah's Vest

Using my knowledge of knitting a top down sweater and the internet (oh, how I love thee!), I managed to make Leah a cross between a vest and a short sleeve sweater.  I managed to make it a bit big, but I know she will grow into it.  The kid has recently grown out of most of her clothes at the feet....long little girl, but I digress.  The model hasn't been that cooperative, but here's a shot of the vest in very poor lighting.
Hopefully I can get a shot of it on it's intended recipient soon.

Newest Addition

Remember this baby cardigan?

And remember way back to this post?

That little girl is now a big sister, and that sweater has a happy new owner.  Jeremy's sister had a little boy on Friday, January 20th.  I don't know many of the particulars except that he weighed 8 lbs, 13.9 oz and was 21 inches long.  I think we're gonna go see little Bridger this following weekend.

Gluten Free Bread

After going gluten-free, I missed having toast.  I'd tried some baking with gluten free flours and it was working, for the most part.  I got a gluten free cook book for Christmas, so I thought I'd give yeast bread a try.  I followed the recipe down to the letter.  The dough was much different than gluten-full dough, it was much softer, there was no need to knead.  I was hesitant until I pulled it out of the oven and sliced into it.  It was airy and wonderful.  The texture was a little different, but not enough to turn me off.  And it made great toast.  Here's a picture of my first gluten-free loaf of raisin cinnamon bread.

Dress Up

Been awhile since I checked in on here, but nothing much new is happening around here.  Here's a picture of the girls playing dress up.  There's the tiara, gloves, pearls and dresses.
I guess the only "big" news is that poor Elmer the lab got neutered and is now wearing the cone of shame (ever seen the movie UP?).  The first day he was a bit more calm, but today he's back to his hyperactive self.  He can get in his dog house, but then he can't get back out!  He has to wear it 14 days...holy moly!
