Scarf

I finished my scarf last week.  It could be a tad longer, but it looks neat-o!

And I had my little model show it off for me.  I asked her to smile and got the cute pose.  J
I already have the next idea in my head.  I also finished the baby sweater, but I still need to get buttons and give it a bath.

Happy Birthday....to Me!

Yesterday was my 29th, a-hem, birthday.  It turned into a day filled with a few surprises.  My husband was working nights and sent me a text message at 12:55 AM saying "Happy Birthday."  Grace and Anna each gave me a birthday card and sang "Happy Birthday" to me in the morning.  My friend, Heidi, made rice crispy treats with peanut butter and chocolate chips...which turned into the breakfast of champions!  Then a bouquet of flowers from Jeremy was delivered to my work.  The day finished with some Snickers ice cream cake.
On an unrelated note, I finished my weaving this morning, and it is off the loom.  I'm just finishing the ends...look for a post about my new scarf soon!

My First Loom Project

I got my loom last week and am nearly done with my first project.  I picked some sock yarn I have plenty of and got to work on a simple scarf.  After I got the hang of the edges, I think it's looking pretty good, if I do say so myself.  J

I think for my next project I wanna try a plaid...or maybe something in a not so subtle colorway.  It's fun and it's fast and now I need to get a stand for it, because I really have no place to keep it and the kitchen table ain't gonna work forever!

Right now

Right now I am....

...pleased with my health fair results.  The last time they were taken was right before I went gluten free about a year and several months ago.  My total cholesterol and “bad” cholesterol went down and are now within a nice, normal range!  Yeah!

...a bit stressed out, work seems crazy busy and I can’t seem to catch up.

….excited to get my rigid heddle loom.  I didn’t know I “needed” one until I saw the Yarn Harlot blog about it.  I got myself one for my birthday, it has yet to arrive.

…glad the subzero temps have moved out...for now anyways.

...waiting for the no bake cookies to set up, yum yum!

...in awe watching my nearly 17 month old color; it's very serious business!

Gluten Free Goodies

Being gluten free and, for the most part, dairy and grain free, means when you get a hankering for something, you gotta find a way to substitute.  My friend is always finding new recipes to try and turned me on to this pudding recipe. It’s for chocolate pudding, but the only similarity to real chocolate pudding is the chocolate.

It was very tasty, but not so much like chocolate pudding.  Anna wasn’t fooled for a minute and didn’t eat her whole bowl.  Grace and I thought it was pretty tasty. The ingredients are chocolate, frozen blueberries, an avocado, a banana and honey.

I have also found a gluten free flour replacement that works very well and is easy to use.  There’s a recipe on the bag for this pumpkin bread that has a brown sugar/nut topping that makes it heavenly.  I made the loaf on Saturday, it was gone this morning and that was just between us girls.

Sweater in Progress

Here's just a little something I'm working on.  I made one for Leah awhile back and thought it was so cute.  I like the knit 1, purl 1 row when there's a color change.

Jeremy's off to places north to go ice fishing.  He's only been one time this year and itching for a big excursion where there's copious quantities of ice.  It's been so warm here this winter, there's not much ice.  So I'm a "single" parent for a few days.

New Rooms and a Shawl

The girls have been at Grandma and Grandpa Yearout's since Saturday.  I did a LOT of decluttering and rearranging while they were gone.  Grace and Anna shared a room while Leah's stuff was in the other room.  Her crib is still in our room.  There was a twin bed set up in Leah's room.  We decided to put Anna and Leah together and Grace now has her own room.  It's a bit crowded in Leah and Anna's room, but I think this might resolve some issues we've been having between Grace and Anna.

Here's some pictures of Anna and Leah's room.  While cleaning the rooms, I found things that I thought had gone missing forever (scissors, clothes) and the mates to a whole bunch of socks I thought the washer had eaten.  Now to try to keep the rooms clean will be a goal of mine.

The last day of the year, my Color Affection shawl came off the needles.  I wasn't pleased with it at first, but after a bath and blocking, I totally changed my mind!
I'm so going to wear it to work tomorrow...show that sucker off!  I think that's probably the biggest and most time consuming thing I've made to date.
